Salko (Salicone), 96, 101 Railroad St., Windber, died Feb. 15, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 27, 1904 in Windber. Son of Anthony and Vincenza (D'Ambrosia) Salicone. Preceded in death by parents, brother Michael, and sisters Mary Pachella, Helen Grisafe, Rose Boburchuk, Margaret Solensky, Christine Salkco, and Caroline Palumbo. Survived by wife of 67 years, the former Frances Cyproski, and these children; Joseph Jr. at home, James, Huntingdon, and Mary Evelyn, wife of Robert R. Perry II, Zelienople. Also grandson Robert R. Perry, III, NY. Brother of James, Cayuga Park, Calif., and Frances Burcin, Harrisburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. Retiree of Berwind Corp. and PennDot. Member of Windber FOE, Slovak Club and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where funeral mass will be celebrated at the discretion of the family. Committal church cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation therefore flowers are to be omitted. Contributions may be made to Windber Vol. Fire Co., in memory of Mr. Salko.
