Sanna, 87, Woodmont, died May 9, 2008, at home. Born March 2, 1921, in Johnstown, the son of Joseph and Maria Lucia (Marcedda) Sanna. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Jeno, Tony, Frank and Sam; and sisters, Elizabeth Zimmerman and Pina Punako. Survived by wife of 61 years, Irene (Wasilisian); sons, Ronald, married to Debbie; Thomas, married to Patricia Zvonik; and Mary Ann, married to John McGinnis. Also survived by grandchildren, Franco Sanna, Kristina Bailor, Heather Sanna and brother, John Sanna, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mario was a longtime member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, technical sergeant serving in the European Theater, where the airplane was shot down and he became a prisoner of war for two years. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Menoher Heights Sportsmen's Club, St. Clair Tremont Club and Johnstown Sportsmen's Club. A deputy game warden for 10 years, and hunter safety instructor for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 25 years. Friends received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., followed by committal service at Grandview Mausoleum. The Very Rev. Paul E. Turnbull, V.F. officiating. Military honors by Johnstown Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windber or Conemaugh Hospice in his memory.
