Sanner, aged 89 years, 9 months, died at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 14, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marian Snyder, in Connellsville. He had been ill but a few days. Mr. Sanner was born in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Oct. 7, 1852, a son of the late Lewis and Sarah King Sanner. His early life was devoted to teaching school. For a few years he was clerk in the State Senate at Harrisburg. After this he took up telegraphy and was an operator for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for many years. For a time he was chief dispatcher in Connellsville. At one time he conducted a school of telegraphy at Confluence and taught many of the old operators of the B. & O. system. He was retired on pension 15 years ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. H. C. Humbert of Washington Ave., Connellsville, Mrs. S. B. Fitzpatrick of Baltimore, Mrs. Rose Critchfield of Pittsburgh, Mrs. J. P. Crouse of Punxsutawney, and Mrs. Marian Snyder of Connellsville with whom he made his home for 10 years since the death of his wife. Mr. Sanner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Connellsville. The funeral was held July 16, at 2:30 p.m. in the Baptist Church and interment was made in the Baptist Cemetery at Confluence.
