Sarver, 68, Somerset RD 2, died Jan. 3, 1988, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Oct. 29, 1919 in Lincoln Township, Somerset County a son of the late Daniel and Goldie (Moore) Sarver. Preceded in death by parents, brother Carl and infant sister. Survived by his wife, Ruth L. Shaffer, two sons and a daughter: John L., married to the former Mary Ann DePhillips, Somerset RD 5; Judith A. Wagner, married to Richard L. Wagner, Somerset; and Jeffrey W., married to the former Susan Gross, Somerset RD 2. Five grandchildren: Michael Wagner, Cindy Wagner; Dawn, Julie Ann, Zachary, all Sarvers. Survived by brothers: James, Somerset RD 3; Daniel, Somerset RD 6; Telford, Friedens RD; Floyd, Boston, N.Y.; Harrison, Elwood, and Betty Detrick, Kent, Ohio; Lloyd, Jennerstown; Audrey Thomas, Somerset RD; Delores McConnell, Friedens RD and Shirley Brougher, Somerset. His death terminates a marriage union of 44 years. He was a member of the Somerset Alliance Church. A Vereran [sic] of World War II, served with 106 infantry overseas, a P.O.W. Battle of the Bulge and received the purple heart. He was a member of the Somerset 554 VFW Post, Teamsters Local No. 30, retired mechanic with 18 years service with Cooper Jarrett Trucking Co. Friends will be received 7 to 9 today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where service will be conducted Wednesday 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Carl Ellenberger officiating.
