Satterfield, 90, of College Park, Md. formerly of Johnstown, died Oct. 21, 2000 of Alzheimer's disease at Doctor's Hospital in Lanham, Md. Daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Homer) Shirey. Preceded in death by her husband William D. and sisters Dorothy Wentz, Betty Harbaugh, and Ruth Shirey. Survived by sons David J., married to Christina (Godoy) with whom Mrs. Satterfield resided, and Donald I., married to Sophie (Losleben) of Cresco, Pa.; also 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Irons of Somerset, and Edith Oaks of Boswell. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnstown. Volunteer for the Community Chest, Red Cross Fund Drive and trained Grey Ladies and Nurses Aids at local hospitals. She was a nurses aid for the Red Cross for 11 years, and helped plan the United Cerebral Palsy Fund Drive. President and acting treasurer of the Cambria County Parent Teacher Asso., active volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church and Camp Sequanota, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 181, Somerset. She also worked as a volunteer and secretary for the American Heart Fund for over 25 years. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ash and Golde St., the Rev. David Finney. Interment: Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church. The family is being served by the Geisel Funeral Home, 734 Bedford St., Dale.
