Mr. Saylor, son of Samuel and Susan Ferner Saylor, was born March 5, 1892, in Northampton Township, Somerset County, Pa. He was united in marriage with the former Annie Murray of Garrett, by Dr. W. H. Bruce Carney, pastor of the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, in 1914. They lived in Garrett for 32 years, then moved to Akron, Ohio in 1941, where he was employed as a salesman by Walk M. Kistler (a former merchant of Garrett) for his "Doughnut Bakery". He had always enjoyed the best of health until eight months ago, when he suffered from a heart attack from which he had presumably fully recovered and had been given permission by his doctor, after a thorough examination, to return to work the next week, but a second heart attack last Friday proved fatal. He is survived by his wife, Annie Murray Saylor, three sons, Murray, Bruce and Charles; two daughters, Jocelyn Saylor Wood and Nina, all of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Malda Saylor Martin, of Akron; one brother, Wilson Saylor of Berlin, and two grandchildren. A brief service was held at the Materna Funeral Home in Akron Monday evening at 8 o'clock, and the body was then shipped to Garrett where funeral services were held in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Saylor was a member, at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dr. C. J. Wagner, pastor of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Akron, officiating, assisted by the pastor of the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Rev. John S. Hoenstine. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin. The pallbearers were Guy A. Cook, Earl Christner, Harold Walker, George Carter, Wilson Walters and Harry Neil. Meyersdale Republican, July 25, 1946
