Saylor, 67, Newport News, Va., formerly of Meyersdale, died Dec. 21, 2005, at his home. Born April 12, 1938, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Joseph M. and Violet (Sheeler) Saylor. Also preceded in death by his son, Scott; and a sister, Kathleen Shockey. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Ada B. (Hornig) Saylor; daughter, Lynette Saylor, Newport News; granddaughter, Shelby Saylor, Canada; daughter-in-law, Tammy Saylor, Canada; and niece, Debbie Sprague, Ridgley, W.Va. A brother of Edward N. Saylor, Cleveland. Also survived by a brother-in-law and dear friend, Jake Hornig and his wife Dawn, Meyersdale. Joe is a graduate of Meyersdale High School, class of 1956, and is a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was the first superintendent of Piney Run Golf Course in Garrett. His career as a golf course superintendent continued in Virginia for 38 years and he retired from the Ocean View Golf Course, Norfolk, Va., in 2000. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Robert Stahl officiating.
