Saylor, a former Salisbury High School principal, died in Miami, Florida, March 22, 1941, at the age of 79 years. His death was caused by a heart attack, following a severe attack of lumbago. He was a native of Somerset Township, was born near the Wills Church, and was a son of Alexander and Rosina (Pugh) Saylor. His father was a Civil War veteran, and died soon after that war was ended. His mother was a sister of the late James L. Pugh, Esq., who was a well-known Somerset lawyer for many years. Prof. Saylor was principal of the Salisbury High School for several years, completing his last term here in 1917. During his teaching career he was principal of the schools at the following places: Liberty Grove and Port Deposit, Maryland; Ebensburg; Dunbar, South Brownsville, Confluence, Rockwood, Salisbury, Somerset Borough and Shade Township. He also taught in the public schools of New York City, St. Luke's Academy in Brooklyn, New York, and the Tressler Orphans' Home at Loysville, Pa., and taught his last term in his native state and county at Cairnbrook. He was never married, was a resident of Miami, Florida for 19 years, and is survived by two brothers, Luther of Rising City, Nebraska, and William of San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Virgil R. Saylor, a former principal of the Salisbury schools for about five years, and later studied law and was admitted to the practice of law in Somerset, where he finished his earthly career, and also was elected to the office of District Attorney. Prof. O. O. Saylor was a prominent member of the Lutheran church for many years, and never lost his fondness for his native hills. Accordingly his body was shipped to Somerset, where his funeral took place at 2 p.m. today (Thursday), the service being conducted by the Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. Interment was in the Wills Church cemetery, near the boyhood home of the deceased. Meyersdale Republican, March 27, 1941
