Scarpo, 81, Confluence, formerly of East McKeesport, died Nov. 4, 1998, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born April 2, 1917, in Hannastown, the son of the late Ralph and Joanne (Crocetti) Scarpo. Also preceded in death by an infant son, John. Survived by wife, Clara E. (Zinkham) Scarpo; daughter, Janice Clemente and husband Joseph of McKeesport; son, Gerald Scarpo, of North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Jeff and Joey Clemente; 3 great-grandchildren, Brett, Joey and Marisa; 3 brothers: Arc Scarpo and wife Elizabeth of Ohio, Ralph Scarpo Jr. and wife Louise of Greensburg, and Joseph Scarpo and wife Christine of Crabtree; 3 sisters: Ann Torockie of Elizabeth Township, Edith Gendek and husband Ted and Mary Rossi, all of South Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Owner-operator of the former Scarpo Asphalt Paving in East McKeesport. Veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy. Member of Confluence VFW where he was past quartermaster. Friends received from 7-9 p.m., Thursday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Clement L. Plntalone Funeral Home, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, McKeesport, with Father Gerald Lutz officiating. Interment, New St. Joseph's Cemetery, N. Versailles.
