Schaefer, one mile west of Grantsville, where he made his home. Mr. Schaefer complained of feeling ill Saturday morning and did not go to work. He retired to his room where Mrs. Schaefer saw him and talked with him several times during the day. When her husband came from work and went to his brother's room he found him dead, having passed away soon after Mrs. Schaefer had last talked with him. He was a miner all his life, for many years employed by the former Meyers Coal Company. During the past year when his health permitted, he worked for Joel A. Beachy in his mine. He was a member of the Grantsville Lutheran Church, Woodman of the World Camp 41, and past member of the Grantsville volunteer fire company. He was born in Grantsville, January 13, 1904, the son of the late Henry and Christina Leiusetter Schaefer. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lohr, Baltimore, and brothers, Henry A. of Springs, William, Leonard and James of Grantsville. Funeral services were held at the Grantsville Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. George Bowersox, pastor, officiating. Interment in the family lot in the Grantsville cemetery. Mrs. Lizzie Lohr, Baltimore, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. James A. Schaefer. Meyersdale Republican, December 18, 1947
