She had been ill for many months and for several weeks her condition had been critical. Her advanced age and complications due to her years were given as the cause of her death. Mrs. Schaefer was 83. She was born at Lonaconing, August 8, 1857, a daughter of Baultis and Catherine Leinsetter, who came to this country from Germany. She was the last surviving member of her family in which there were four children. Many years ago she married Henry Schaefer, who died January 17, 1925. Mrs. Schaefer's early life was spent in the Lonaconing community. She came to Grantsville about 1902 and for the past forty years she has made her home in this section. Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer were the parents of eleven children, six of whom survive. They are Henry A. Schaefer, Mrs. Lizzie Lohr, M. William Schaefer, Leonard B. Schaefer, James A. Schaefer and Charles Schaefer, all of Grantsville. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. In her early girlhood Mrs. Schaefer united with the German Lutheran Church at Lonaconing, but upon moving to Grantsville she transferred her membership to the German Lutheran Church at Accident. She always took an active interest in the work of her church until her declining years prevented these activities. She was well known in both this and the Lonaconing sections and had a large circle of friends. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time of this writing.
