Watson St., Bedford died March 2, 2000 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1923 in Friends Cove, son of the late Howard L. and Margaret E. (Morgaret) Schaeffer. Preceded in death by an infant son and a daughter Doris Mae Imler. On March 2, 1945 he married Marie Price and she survives along with four children: Lloyd W. Schaeffer married to the former Jessie Jo Hogg of Austell, Ga.; M. Geraldine "Jerri" widow of Fred W. Ray of Austell, Ga.; David A. Schaeffer married to the former Gwen Stottlemyer of Bedford and Louise J. Schaeffer of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three sisters, M. Rebecca Warfield of Silver Spring, Md., Mary E. Boore of Bedford, Jane C. Fisher of Cumberland and a brother William H. Schaeffer married to the former Charlotte Koontz of Bedford. Mr. Schaeffer was a member of Yeager Memorial Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member and master of Charlesville Grange and overseer of Pamona Grange. Member of Bedford Lions Club and Somerset Home Builders Association. He was a former Rotarian and former Colerian Township supervisor. He owned and operated a farm in Friends Cove until 1971 at which time he moved to Stoystown and went into pole building construction, first for Agway and eventually as the owner of Superior Buildings. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday at Yeager Memorial Lutheran Church in Rainsburg with the Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.
