      Bernard J. Schardt, Sr., 51, Somerset RD 5, died June 12, 1974 in
  his residence.  Born June 22, 1922 in Meyersdale, a son of John and
  Mary Bowser Schardt.  Survived by his wife, Lois Jean Putman, one son
  Bernard J. Jr., of Somerset; one grandchild; these brothers and
  sisters: Robert, York, Mrs. Marie Weimer, Frostburg, Md., Mrs.
  Mildred Clawson, Saltsburg, Mrs. Julia Geiger, Meyersdale RD 4 and
  Mrs. Jean LaRue, Meyersdale.  Veteran of World War II, member of
  American Legion, Kelly Post, Meyersdale; Fraternal Order of Police,
  Somerset Lodge 98, member of United Association of Journeymen and
  Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of USA. 
  Employed by B.J. Tamasy and Sons Inc., West Newton.  Friends will be
  received after 7 p.m. Thursday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home
  where service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. by the Rev.
  Father Donald Voytish.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
