  SCHARDT
  
    Viola B. Schardt, 89, of Meyersdale, died Sept. 27, 1993, at
  Meyersdale Community Hospital.  She was born Feb. 24, 1904, in
  Casselman, a daughter of the late William and B. Etta (Lape)
  Putman.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert P.; a
  daughter, Verda; a granddaughter, Carolyn; and a daughter-in-law,
  Virginia.  She is survived by these children: James H. and Audrey,
  wife of Dean Hillegas, both of Meyersdale RD 3; Bernice, wife of John
  Zimmerman of Salisbury; John William of Glen Burnie, Md.; Gordon E.
  and Shirley, wife of Oney Newman, both of Meyersdale; 22
  grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 11
  great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers and
  two sisters: Albert and Ralston Putman, both of Casselman; Florence
  Peters of Rockwood; and Ida Mae McLeod of Sarasota, Fla.  She was a
  member of the Casselman E.U.B. Church.  Friends will be received in
  the Leckemby Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where
  service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Randy Haulk
  officiating.  Interment, Union Cemetery.
