    Walter M. "Doc" Schartiger, 87, Salisbury, died Aug. 5, 2007, at his home. Born Nov.
  21, 1919, in Sand Ridge, W.Va., the son of the late Lloyd and Hollie (Nicholson)
  Schartiger. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Martha (Lowry) Schartiger, who
  died Jan. 20, 1998; an infant daughter, Patricia; a brother, Russell; a sister, Vera
  Tucker; a granddaughter, Patti Harris and a granddaughter-in-law, Vauda Bittinger.
  Survived by two sons, David (Virginia) Schartiger, Clarksville, Tenn.; Mart "Butch"
  Schartiger, Meyersdale; three daughters, Bernice (Ty) "Bunny" Cauthern, Silver Springs,
  Fla.; Karen (Roger) Yommer, Meyersdale; Linda (Paul) Bittinger, Salisbury; one sister,
  Bonnie Tucker, Spencer, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-
  great-grandchildren. Walter was a retired sawyer of 37 years and was a U.S. Army veteran
  of World War II. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Tuesday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, where
  services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Don Engle officiating.
  Interment, St. Paul Wilhelm Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the

  Walter M. "Doc" Schartiger, 87, of Salisbury, PA, died Sunday, August 
  5, 2007, at his home.
  Born November 21, 1919, in Sand Ridge, WV, he was the son of the late 
  Lloyd and Hollie (Nicholson) Schartiger. He was preceded in death by 
  his wife of 56 years, Martha (Lowry) Schartiger, who died January 20, 
  1998; an infant daughter, Patricia; a brother, Russell; a sister, Vera 
  Tucker; a granddaughter, Patti Harris and a granddaughter-in-law, Vauda 
  Bittinger.
