(Don Rodgers) Schmalz, 42 of South Columbia Ave., Somerset, died Aug. 13, 1986, in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1944, in Houston, Pa. a son of Charles Franklin and Martha (Frazier) Schmalz. He is survived by his parents of Houston, Pa.; his wife, the former Marsha Ann Bittner; son, Jason Lee, Somerset; three brothers, Charles W., Washington, Pa.; David L., Meadowlands; and Richard A., Mt. Lebanon. Don Rodgers was an announcer for WVSC radio station for 15 years. Veteran of U.S. Army, Vietnam War. A 1961 graduate of Chartiers High School. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset Volunteer Fire Co., Somerset Amateur Radio Club, Civil Air Patrol Group 1500, and American Legion Post 181. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Rev. William R. Mulford officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
