Born Dec. 27, 1909, in Rockwood, the son of Anton and Katherine (Klein) Schmidt. Also preceded in death by brother, Edward V. Survived by his wife, the former Mary Sminiski. Brother of; Anthony, Mrs. Elizabeth Hauger and Mrs. Robert E. (Anna) Shaulis, all of Somerset RD 6; William of Champion; Mrs. Clair (Nellie) Martell, Sharon, Pa.; and Mrs. Mary Sleasman of Rockwood. Member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 5, Pittsburgh. Served as a corporal with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m., Pastor Richard A. Schlak officiating.
