Born April 4, 1918, in Portage, daughter of Charles and Mary (Loschaska) Sminiski. Preceded in death by parents; husband John Joseph Schmidt, who died March 17, 1987; and brothers Michael S. Manning and Harry Sminiski. Survived by brother Andrew Sminiski of Wenatchee, Wash.; sisters-in-law Mrs. Helen Sminiski of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Nellie Martell of Sharon, Mrs. Mary Sleasman of Rockwood, Mrs. Robert (Anna) Shaulis of Somerset, Mrs. June Eileen Schmidt of Derry and Mrs. June Schmidt of Champion; and a number of nieces and nephews. Member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church. Retired in 1975 as a clerk with Alcoa of Pittsburgh with 23 years of service. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Edward W. Ebersole officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 3093 Glades Pike, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
