  SCHMIDT
  
    William Schmidt, 77, County Line Road, Champion, died March 27,
  1998, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born Nov. 2,
  1920, son of Anton and Katherina (Klein) Schmidt.  Preceded in death
  by parents; and brothers, Edward V. Schmidt and John J. Schmidt. 
  Survived by wife, the former June Coffman, to whom he was married for
  49 years and these children: Terry Schmidt, married to the former Ling
  Huang of Harrisburg; Brenda June, wife of Ronald Maser of Pittsburgh;
  Barbara Ann, wife of Ernest Petersen of Johnstown; and Billie Sue,
  wife of Terry Cahill of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Margo
  McClain of Pensacola, Fla.; Katie and Kristen Maser, Elijah and
  Rachel Petersen and Chad Schmidt.  Brother of Anthony Schmidt of
  Somerset; Mrs. Elizabeth Hauger of Somerset; Mrs. Robert E. (Anna)
  Shaulis of Somerset; Mrs. Clair (Nellie) Martel of Sharon, Pa.; and
  Mrs. Mary Sleasman of Rockwood.  Member of Messiah Lutheran Church,
  New Centerville and Lodge No. 358 F.&A.M.  Owner and operator of
  Schmidt Coal Co.  Served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during
  World War II.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday
  at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where private services will be
  conducted Monday.  Rev. John Palko officiating.  Interment in
  Somerset County Memorial Park.  Contributions may be made to the
  American Heart Association, 400 Luray Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
