SCHRAMM Henry Washington Schramm died at his home in Salisbury at 10:40 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, of cancer, from which he has been suffering for four months. He had been in ill health for more than ten years due to various ailments. He was born February 22, 1872, in Garrett County, Md., son of Casper and Barbara (Bender) Schramm, both of whom were born in Germany. He moved to Salisbury about forty-five years ago, and worked at his trade of interior decorating until he retired about 15 years ago. He was aged 72 years, 6 months and 21 days. He is survived by his wife, Ella (Hawn) Schramm and by four daughters; Esther, wife of Robert Brown, Salisbury; Ruth, wife of William Suder, Dunbar; Edna, wife of Clarence Werner, Meyersdale, and Mae, wife of Simon Ackerman of Garrett; by two sons, J. William, Salisbury, and George E., of Meyersdale; by one brother, John, of Salisbury, and by 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Vickie Mae and Evelyn M. Murray. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George, on November 8, 1908, and William, on March 22, 1937; and a daughter, Lydia, in July 1905. Mr. Schramm was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He was well known in his home community, although since his retirement he has not been seen much about the town. Funeral services will be held in St. John's Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 15, with Rev. Samuel D. Sigler, former pastor, officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with Mortician Stanley M. Thomas in charge. Meyersdale Republican, September 14, 1944
