Schrift, 89, 422 Jackson St., Summerhill, died Sept. 14, 1996 at home. Born March 9, 1907 in Carroltown, the daughter of Augustine and Amelia (Sherry) Bender. Preceded in death by parents; husband Victor L. Schrift, who died in 1991; sisters: Marcelline Kibler, Regina Madigan and Mary; Brothers: Warren A. Milton, William and Herbert. Also three infant granddaughters. Survived by these children: Patricia, wife of Dennis Penatzer, Sun City Center, Fla.; Dolores, wife of Clarence Farabaugh, Carroltown; David, married to Elener Bechel, New Germany; Charles, married to Jean Leja, Cleveland; Ronald, married to Gail Boland, New Germany; Mildred, wife of George Frank, Ebensburg; T. Hayden married to Patricia Klatt, Portage; William married to Janice Hines, Somerset; Thelma wife of Kevin Long, Warren; and Jean wife of Walter Sliko, Ebensburg; 47 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Sister of Anna, wife of Charles Lantzy, Mechanicsburg. Mrs. Schrift and her husband Victor were married June 17, 1930. She is a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Summerhill and the Alter and Rosary Society. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's, Father Daniel Wolfel OSB. Interment St. Benedict Church Cemetery, Carroltown. Wake service held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions to either Good Samaritan Hospice or Forest Hills Ambulance Association.
