Schrock Latest Victim of Mining Fatality John F. Schrock, 57, well known citizen of Meyersdale, was the latest victim of a series of mining accidents in the last few weeks. Mr. Schrock died at 1 a.m. last Saturday in the Community Hospital, Somerset, to which he was admitted after he had been caught under a rock fall in the Enterprise Coal Company mine near Garrett, Thursday, sustaining fractures of the pelvis and vertebrae and internal injuries. Mr. Schrock was born October 3, 1889, near Meyersdale, a son of the late Hiram and Maggie (Maust) Schrock. Surviving are his wife, Bertha (Werner) Schrock, and five children, Irene, Harold and Shirley, all at home; Dorothy, wife of Clarence Kenney, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and Elwood Schrock, Meyersdale; one brother and four sisters, Lloyd Schrock, Garrett; Mrs. Charles Fogle and Mrs. Samuel Fogle, both of Garrett R.D.; Mrs. Henry Murray, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Harry Livengood, Pinto, Md. Mr. Schrock, who lived at 325 Salisbury Street, was a former Somerset County school teacher. He was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the residence, his pastor, Rev. S. Loren Bowman, officiating, assisted by Rev. Nelson C. Brown, pastor of Amity Reformed Church. Burial was made in Union Cemetery, under the direction of H. R. Konhaus. Meyersdale Republican, December 24, 1946
