Born July 10, 1927, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of the late Elmer and Sadie (Hershberger) Schrock. He was also preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Mabel (Yoder) Schrock, on July 21, 1987; one son, Marlin; twin infant brothers: Evan and Nevin; and two sisters: Lela Yoder and Orpha Schrock. Raymond is survived by two daughters: Ellen Probst and husband Arnold, Williamsport; and Linda Yoder and husband Paul, Hyndman; one son, Wayne Schrock and wife Felicia, Grantsville, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Norma Schrock, Alexandria, Va.; four brothers: Simon and Olen Schrock, both of Grantsville; Herman Schrock, Smyrna, Ga.; and Homer Schrock, Cochranville; two sisters: Rhoda Yoder and Thelma Beiler, both of Grantsville; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Raymond came to Christ in his early years while attending Mountain View Mennonite Church and in later years worshiped at the Kingdom Hall in Grantsville. A committed and deeply devoted husband, Raymond worked side-by-side with his wife Mabel as they poured their lives into cultivating a successful dairy farm. Raymond loved visiting with people, and he ensured that when his grandchildren came to visit there was always candy to be "gotten into" and he often "assisted" in the eating. Despite the challenge of managing a farm and the responsibility of raising a Godly family, Raymond served his community as member of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department for many years and accepted the role of Fire Chief for several of those years. A friend to many in the community, Raymond's warm smile and twinkling eyes spoke of the man he was and the legacy he now leaves behind. Friends were received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, at the Cherry Glade Mennonite Church with the Rev. Oren Bender officiating. Interment was in the Cherry Glade Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Area Agency on Agency, 104 E. Center St., Oakland, MD 21550. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
