Schwalm, 83, of Derry, died April 24, 2002 in Edgewood Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 1, 1918 in Millwood, a son of the late William R. and Cleona J. Trump Schwalm. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Schwalm. Albert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeannette G. Horner Schwalm, whom he married Aug. 30, 1938. He is also survived by his in-laws and several cousins. Albert was a member of the Derry First United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Burma, India with the 497th Engineers Heavy Shop Co. Albert and his wife formerly owned and operated Schwalm's Garage in Millwood from 1946 to 1980. Albert was known to be able to fix anything mechanical. He was also a member of the Westmoreland Regional Antique Automobile Club of America. Friends will be received from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with his pastor, the Rev. David D. Wilson Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Coles Cemetery Mausoleum, Derry.
