  SCURFIELD
  
    William E. Scurfield, 91, of Berlin, died Jan. 22, 2002 at Naples,
  Fla. Community Hospital.  Born June 17, 1910 in Windber, son of
  Edward Hunter and Pearl (Malsberry) Scurfield.  Preceded in death by
  parents; wife, the former Mary Catherine Walker; son William Walker
  Scurfield; sisters: Evelyn Veverka and Mildred Smith.  Survived by a
  son, James E., married to the former Jane Hoffman of Berlin;
  grandchildren, Scott Scurfield, married to the former Janine Leonard;
  Rick Scurfield, married to the former Michelle Hondal; Sue, married to
  Greg Walker and Heath Scurfield; great grandchildren: Alec and Vaughn
  Scurfield; and Tanner and Keegan Walker.  Also survived by a sister,
  Alice Barbara Landis; and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Daniel (Karen)
  Hillegass and her children, Kami and Brook Hillegrass.  Graduate of
  University of Pittsburgh in Mine Engineering and long time member of
  the Golden Panther Club.  President of Scurfield Coal Inc., Berlin.
  He was one of the original investors in Snyder of Berlin.  Member of
  Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin.  Family will receive friends
  from 11 a.m. until memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy
  Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin.  Rev. Melvin A. Kirk, Jr.
  officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Holy
  Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, Pa., 15530.
