"Pappy" Sechler, 83 of Meyersdale, died Aug. 26, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Feb. 17, 1914, in Garrett. A son of the late James G. and Cora (Hare) Sechler. Also preceded in death by two brothers: James and Lester; two sisters: Olive Pletcher Snyder and Margaret Bittner. Survived by his wife the former Bessie E. Marker, and two sons: Blaine, married to the former Ann Griffith, Meyersdale, and Wayne, married to the former Shirley Leister, Garrett RD 1. Eight grandchildren: Bonnie Foxwell, Rick Sechler, Terry Sechler, Janet Arnold, Jeff Sechler, Sherri Marker, Scott Sechler and Mark Sechler. Also 14 great-grandchildren. A brother of Gilbert Sechler, Meyersdale, and Lillian Flemming, Blairsville. Mr. Sechler and his wife Bessie celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Dec. 31. They attended the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Boynton, and the Assembly of God in Leesburg, Fla. Mr. Sechler started the Sechler Auto Wreckers in 1934. In 1951 he opened Sechler Motor Co. in Meyersdale with the Willys Jeep Agency. In 1962 he added the Chrysler-Plymouth franchise, and in 1962 he completed the company with the addition of Dodge. Mr. Sechler retired in 1979 and his son Wayne took over the business. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Garry Kipe officiating.
