Born Sept. 1, 1950, in Somerset, son of Guy and Nora (Trent) Sechler of Somerset. He is preceded in death by father Guy and a grandson Austin Shultz. Survived by his wife of 34 years, Ann (McCartney) Sechler and children, Karen Hill, Tulsa, Ok., Jennifer Close and husband, Bart, Somerset; Roger Sechler and wife, Laura, Pittsburgh; and Jeffrey Sechler and wife, Tacee, Boalsburg; grandchildren, Brody Close and Colby Sechler. He is also survived by his mother, Nora, and sib-lings, Cathy (Sam) Schmuck, Ken (Sherry) Sechler, Wayne (Vicky) Sechler, Diane (Barry) Bittner and Georgia (Robert) Harrold; and sister-in- law, Susan Buck, four nieces and 15 nephews. Ray graduated from Rockwood Area High School in 1968 and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He grew up as a farmer and worked as a truck driver for years, specifically with Jones Bros. Trucking Co. He was also previously an employee of 84 Lumber, Glick's Furniture, Pleasant Ave. Lumber, and as a self-employed trucker. Ray was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir, council, lay reader, usher and tape ministry. For numerous years he was also a dedicated Cub Scout Master for Troop 538. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 2 p.m. until the time of service 3 p.m. Sunday at Messiah Lutheran Church, New Centerville with Pastor Will Osman officiating. Interment New Centerville Union Cemetery. Ray was a great man conquered by a terrible disease. He will be deeply missed.
