SECHLER Confluence Flight Officer Killed in Crash in England Flight Officer Roy W. Sechler, 28-year-old son of William Sechler of Confluence R.D. 3, was killed in an airplane crash in England, according to word received from the War Department. Twenty days after arriving in England as a pilot on a B-24 Liberator bomber, he lost his life when an Army bomber he was piloting crashed over Borkenhead, England, last October 18. Sechler enlisted in the Army Air Forces January 30, 1943, and received his wings at Turner Field, Georgia, April 15, 1944. He previously had been engaged in business in Chicago, and was graduated from the Confluence High School. Surviving are his father, his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn Show Sechler; a daughter, Patricia Anna, one-year-old; a brother, Cpl. Ralph Sechler of Camp Rucker, and two sisters and another brother. His widow is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Show of Markleysburg. Meyersdale Republican, November 23, 1944
