Sechler of St. Paul, Elk Lick Township, son of Ross and Elizabeth Sechler, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 1940, of a heart attack while getting ready to go to his work on a saw mill owned and operated by D. K. Klink, where he had been almost steadily employed for three years. Mr. Sechler was a man of fine character and kindly disposition, and was an industrious and prosperous citizen. None knew him but to love him and enjoy his company and he will be greatly missed in his home community. He was born in Elk Lick Township, Sept. 11, 1879, and continued to live there almost his entire life with the exception of three years when he was employed by a construction company at Lancaster, Pa., as a carpenter in which trade he was a competent mechanic. He was well liked by his fellow workmen and made many warm and lasting friendships. After work ran short there and he was no longer regularly employed he returned to his home and beloved wife to stay. He soon found gainful work in the timber business where he continued until sudden death called him to rest. In his younger days he followed farming successfully, and it was always a pleasure for him to work with things of nature. His gentle kindness and good care he gave his livestock caused even them to love him. Mr. Sechler married Cora S. Engle, daughter of Chauncey and Julia (Nedrow) Engle of St. Paul, Dec. 25, 1900. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, one adopted son, James Lowery, two brothers, Charles and Jacob, both of St. Paul, one sister, Mrs. Sadie Bittinger of Bittinger, Md., and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Alvin Forry of St. Paul Reformed Church and Rev. D. D. Lobach, a former pastor, now of Waynesburg. Interment was in the church cemetery conducted by W. C. Price and son, morticians. Pallbearers were Milton Bodes, D. K. Klink, Roy Sipple, Lloyd Hay, Ward Compton and Samuel Horchler. Meyersdale Republican, October 17, 1940
