LLOYD SECHRIEST June 13, 1920-October 10, 2001 Rev. Lloyd Sechriest, 81, of Conway, S.C., died Oct. 10, 2001, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born June 13, 1920, in Thomasville, N.C., he was a son of the late Willie E. and Mae Beck Sechriest. He served in the Philippines in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Catawba College and Lancaster Theological Seminary. He served churches of the United Church of Christ in North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania for 30 years before retiring to Conway. During retirement he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conway, and for over 10 years he was a volunteer driver for Social Services. Surviving are his wife, Lois Shoe Sechriest of Conway; three sons: Stephen L. Sechriest and Philip Sechriest, both of Pennsylvania, and Richard L. Sechriest of Durham, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two sisters: Carolina Carpenter and Irma McLain of Thomasville; and one brother, Dale Sechriest of High Point, N.C. Memorial services were held Oct. 13 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Hipp officiating. Directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
