The people of Sand Patch were sorry indeed to here of the death of C. M. Secrest who died at Cumberland in the Allegany Hospital, following an illness of several months, death being due to an abscess. Mr. Secrest entered the hospital on September 23, since which time he underwent three operations. He was a car inspector for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at Sand Patch for the past 25 years. He is survived by four son (sons?) and two daughters, namely, R. J. Secrest of Walter of Harpers Ferry, Va. (?) Charles, Earle, and Mrs. Nettie Cannon all of sand Patch, and Mrs. Myrtle Zinn of Connellsville. The body was brought to Sand Patch, Friday morning, and the funeral was held at White Oak on Sunday at 10 o'clock, with interment in the White Oak Cemetery, by the side of his wife who preceded him to the grave about eight years ago. Mr. Secrest was a member of the Reformed Church. Rev. A. S. Kresge officiated at the funeral services. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Meyersdale and about 30 members of the local order were present and conducted the usual Masonic rites. Meyersdale Commercial, Nov. 12, 1914
