Seese, well known in Meyersdale as the husband of the former Miss Effie Deeter, daughter of William H. Deeter, of North Street, and who frequently visited here with Mrs. Seese and their son, died at 10 o'clock Sunday morning at the family home in Mineral Point, near Johnstown, following an illness of several months due to a stomach ailment. He was owner and operator of the Brookdale mine, located near Mineral Point, and was also at one time affiliated with the Berwind-White Coal Mining Company at Windber. Mr. Seese was born at New Paris, Bedford County, and was a son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Beckley) Seese, and was aged 62 years at the time of his death. As a young man he worked in and about mines in Somerset County, and for two years studied mining at Ohio Northern University, after which he became a foreman at Windber, where he located until 1913, when he became superintendent of the Mineral Point Coal Company. Since 1917 he had been in business for himself as owner of the Brookdale concern, which he had since operated. He had been a member of the East Taylor Township school board for the past 11 years, and was serving as president of the board at the time of his death. He was also a member of the New Paris Methodist Church. Mr. Seese was united in marriage with Miss Effie Deeter 35 years ago in Amity Reformed Church, Meyersdale, by the late Rev. Albert E. Truxal, D.D., then pastor of Amity Church. Surviving are the widow and one son, William N. Seese, 1513 Luzerne Street, Westmont, Johnstown, husband of Kathryn Young. He also leaves three brothers; George Seese, Cleveland, Ohio, James Seese, New Paris, and Alonzo Seese, Wilmerding. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Seese residence by the Rev. Thomas Page, pastor of the Mineral Point Methodist Church, with interment in Grand View Cemetery, Johnstown. Meyersdale Republican, May 15, 1941
