Lesniowski 02/09/08 Daily American Mary K. Lesniowski Sefcheck, 84, Pennsylvania Avenue, Everson, died Feb. 8, 2008, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. Mary was born in Everson, Jan. 25, 1924, a daughter of the late Roman and Katarzyna Chmielowicz Lesniowski who died July 26, 1955, and Jan. 26, 1971, respectively. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Peter H. Sefcheck (Oct. 27, 1969); her brothers, Joseph Lesniowski (Sept. 5, 1979); Walter Lesniowski (April 16, 1981); John and Ceclia Lesniowski in infancy; Father Frank Lesniowski (Oct. 22, 2006); her three sisters, Frances Boscia (April 2006); Rose Wolenter (June 18, 2004); and Emily Soforic (Sept. 25, 1996). Mary leaves to cherish her memories to her loving and devoted children: her three daughters and two sons, Carol A. Sabo and husband, Frank, Pittsburgh; Jerome Paul Sefcheck And wife, Terra Sue, Uniontown; Leonard J. Sefcheck and wife, Shirley, Everson; Cynthia J. Battaglia and husband, Dr. Paul, Somerset; and Annette M. Forsythe and husband, Gregory, Greensburg; her sister, Veronica D. Lesniowski, Everson; 10 grandchildren, Melissa Sabo-LaSala and husband, William, Ringwood, N.J.; Denise Sabo, Pittsburgh; Amy Sabo, Pittsburgh, Gregory Sefcheck and wife, Jennifer, Alexandria, Va.; Peter Sefcheck, Uniontown; Stacy Sefcheck, Everson; Claudia Battaglia, Somerset; and Gregory, Thomas and Philip Forsythe, all of Greensburg. Mary was a devout Catholic and a lifelong and faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson. She was a charter member of the church Holy Rosary Society and Ladies Guild. Mary was a retired employee of the Diocese of Greensburg serving as a secretary for the former St. Joseph Parochial School, Everson, from 1970 to 1990. Mary was a graduate of Scottdale High School class of 1941. She was also a member of "Uncle Charlie's" Bowling League since 1942 until November 2006. Mary was also a member of the St. Joseph Church Bowling League. Mary was a member of the Everson Senior Citizens Organization, Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and the Everson Polish America Club Auxiliary. Mary was an avid bingo player and she loved to crochet and work with her plastic canvas crafts in her spare time. She enjoyed making fried dough for St. Joseph Bazaar for many years. Mary's family will greet friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by her funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson. Committal services and interment will follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Everson. St. Joseph Holy Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
