All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ EDWARD SELLERS Edward Sellers, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Meyersdale died at the age of 91, at the home of his son, Howard Sellers at Berkley's Mill, at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness. He was a native of Somerset County, born Dec. 29, 1852, the son of Henry and Rebecca Sellers. His father was a grist miller and he learned the milling trade from him, and operated mills at different places in the Turkeyfoot region, and eventually took over the Berkley mill in Summit Township, which he operated successfully until he was obligated to retire owing to illness and advancing age. His son Howard, who learned the milling trade from his father and was his assistant for a number of years, succeeded him in business and is still the miller at the old Berkley mill. Mr. Sellers was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Lottie (Schroyer) Sellers, died in 1908. He married Jennie Shipley of Confluence in 1911. Surviving are seven children - Howard, mentioned; W. Blaine, Meyersdale; Mrs. J. C. Blackburn, Pleasantville; Mrs. H. J. Bittner, Mrs. Edgar P. Berkley and Mrs. Harold Higgs, all of Meyersdale, and Mrs. Harry Stanton, Kingwood, Va. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Sellers was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were in charge of W. C. Price and Son, local morticians. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Berkley, 224 Broadway, Meyersdale, by Rev. Thomas R. Thomas, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment in Union Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, March 2, 1944
