"Hank" Sembower Sr., 77, of Somerset died Jan. 23, 2001, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 25, 1923 in Markleton, he is the son of the late William Francis and Grace (Boyer) Sembower. Also preceded in death by his wife Anna Louise (McFarland) Sembower, brothers: Harry Earl "Nook," Maurice, Adam, Harold, Leonard, William Jr., Ray and John, sister: Helen Clay. Survived by: sons, Robert E. Sembower Jr., married to the former Lois A. Whipkey of Somerset and James E. Sembower, married to the former Rosemarie Easton of Rockwood; four beautiful grandchildren, Carrie Grace Baumgardner, Jordan Jon Robert Sembower, Adam James Sembower, and Kelli Rose Sembower; brother Maynard Sembower of Rockwood, and sister Sara Mullaney of Cumberland, Md. Member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren, Great Valley F&AM Lodge #178 of Great Valley, N.Y., Harrisburg Consistory, Rockwood American Legion Post 279, FOE 1801, and Kings Mountain Senior Golf League. Life member of the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Department and was inducted into the Somerset County Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame in October of last year. U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European and Pacific Theaters. Retired Road Foreman of Engines for the Chessie Railroad System. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral home, Somerset, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Mark Bendes officiating.
