Sendek, 65, of Conemaugh Avenue, Jerome, died Feb. 8, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 12, 1932 in Johnstown. Son of Joseph Sr. and Anna (Olenik) Sendek. Preceded in death by parents, granddaughter, Katie Marie Lischerelli, Sept. 8, 1989, and brother Joseph Jr. Survived by beloved wife, the former Verna L. Dedik; children: Robert A., married to Anita Faith, Richland Township; Barbara L., wife of Richard Stiles, Margate, Fla.; Vicki E., wife of Richard Thompson Jr., Westmont; Cindy A., wife of Richard Lischerelli in Enola, Pa., and Anne J., wife of Clifford Plummer II, Greensburg; grandchildren, Bob and Tim Sendek, Jessica and Cody Stiles, Michael Thompson, Elizabeth and Erin Lischerelli, and Andrea and Alex Plummer. Brother of Mary Burkowski, Livonia, Mich.; Steve, of Royal Oak, Mich., and John, of Eastlake, Ohio. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville, Jerome Post 802 American Legion, Jerome Nest 556 Polish Falcons of America and the Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Retired employee of Riverside Markets where he had served as shop steward and president of the United Food Handlers Union. Past Democratic Committeeman in Conemaugh Township for many years. Former member of the Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Association. Served as president of the former Holy Name Society at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where Wake Service will be held Tuesday afternoon. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Church, Rev. Father Michael Lewandowski, O. F. M. Conv. Celebrant. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome.
