Chalmers Shaal, 82, Somerset died June 26, 2001 at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born June 30, 1918 in Altoona. Son of the late Oliver K. and Gertrude (Berkhiser) Shaal. He was first married to Flora J. Shaal who preceded him Sept. 24, 1981. In 1982 he married the former Kathryn Locke who survives along with three step-sons, Gary McClain of Egland, N.C., Robert L. and wife Kathy McClain of Somerset, Randall E. and wife Hazel McClain, Salisbury, Md.; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. A sister Leanore Horton, Cleveland, Tenn. Preceded in death by two brothers. He was a member of the Everett Church of God which he founded in 1952. He pastored there until 1982 and served as evangelistic director of the Church of God for the state of Pennsylvania from 1982-86. Also served at the Boynton Church of God in Somerset County. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Everett Church of God, Everett RD 1 and Thursday one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service in the Everett Church of God with the Rev.
