Shafer, 68, well-known Johnstown modiste, died at her home in Johnstown last Friday evening. She had been bedfast for eight weeks. She was born in Garrett, a daughter of Aaron and Rose Lenhart Zufall. Before her marriage to Clarence W. Shafer in Somerset she taught school at Friedens for several years. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Shafer located in Johnstown where she established herself in business as a modiste and for 24 years led an active business life. Her husband died in 1941. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Hoffman, Harrisburg; a son, Herbert R. Shafer, Collingdale; a sister, Mrs. Harry B. Davis, Somerset, and two grandchildren, Herbert Shafer, Jr., and Paul Shafer Hoffman. Meyersdale Republican, July 30, 1942
