  Betty J. Shafer, 67, of Listonburg died June 27, 2002 in her home. 
  The daughter of the late George and Nellie M. (Sisler) Casteel, she
  was born Jan. 29, 1935, at Hazelton, W.Va.  She was preceded in death
  by three sisters: Mildred DeWitt, Alberta Cuppett, and Margaret
  Crothers; three brothers: Clarence Casteel, Johnny Jr. Guthrie and
  Billy Guthrie.  She is survived by her husband Walter (Frankie)
  Shafer of Listonburg; these children: Randy married to Candy Casteel
  of Confluence; William (Hansel) married to Deanna (Dee) Shafer of
  Confluence; and Tracy married to Cindy Shafer of Ursina; six
  grandchildren: David Crothers married to Heather; Tony Casteel; Ryan
  and Renee Shafer; Cheyenne and Nickolas Shafer.  Sister of Wayne
  Casteel of Confluence; Burley Casteel of Bruceton Mills; Dale Casteel
  of Erie; Donald (Buddy) Guthrie of Bruceton Mills; Hazel Fike of
  Farmington; Shirley Masters of Bruceton Mills; and Lucy Wagner of
  Friendsville, Md.  She was a member of the Listonburg United
  Methodist Church.  Friends received from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Sunday in the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville, W.Va., where
  funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Paul Sisler
  officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery,
  Bruceton Mills, W.Va.
