Shaffer, 67, of 131 Violet St., Johnstown, died May 17 at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He was born May 10, 1906, in Somerset, the son of Austin D. and Stella Burgess Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother of Somerset; his widow, the former Mildred I. Stevanus; two children, Rodney of Baltimore, Md., and Beverly, wife of Frank Popyk of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren, Stanley, Scott and Edward Popyk; a brother, the Rev. Glen C. Shaffer of Westerville, Ohio; and three nephews. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was assistant lay leader and teacher of King's Daughters Sunday School Class. He was a retired employee of Pennsylvania Electric Company. Funeral service at 1 p.m. today in John P. Henderson Funeral Home, Johnstown, conducted by the Rev. Max M. Houser and the Rev. E. A. R.
