  CARL T. SHAFFER
  
    Carl T. Shaffer, 75, of W. Union Street, Somerset, died Feb. 1,
  1979 at Somerset Community Hospital.  He was born Oct. 18, 1903 in
  Hyndman, a son of Elwood and Hattie (Burkett) Shaffer.  He was
  preceded in death by parents and two sisters.
    He is survived by wife, Margaret (Jones) Shaffer and these
  children: Carol, wife of Paul E. Matthews Jr. of Somerset; James T.
  of West Mifflin; and Gary L. of Milton, Vt.; also six grandchildren
  and two sisters: Mrs. Anna Hillegas of Camp Hill, and Mrs. Grace
  Goodwin of Meyersdale.
    He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church Somerset;
  retired yardmaster of the B&O Railroad, Somerset Yards; and belonged
  to the Brotherhood of Railroad Yardmasters of America.
    Friends were received in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where
  services were conducted with the Rev. Arnold S. Kastner officiating. 
  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
