Shaffer, 82, Whistler Road, Stoystown, died May 30, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Hooversville, son of Harry J. and Carrie K. (Gindlesberger) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents and an infant brother. Survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Florence A. Shaffer; children, Kerry and wife, Deborah, Swartz Creek, Mich.; Valli, married to William Hall, Pittsburgh; Michael and wife, Robyn, Rochester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christopher, Melanie, Amanda, Lindsay, Amy, Kelly and Stephen; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald and wife, Mary Alice, Atlanta; and Lowell and wife, Barbara, Davidsville. A 1942 graduate of Hooversville High School. A World War II Army Air Corp pilot with the 38th Bomb Group. Retired owner/operator of Shaffer's Transfer, Hooversville. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville, a charter member of Hooversville Lions Club and a life member of Hooversville VFW Post 7565 and Stoystown American Legion Post 257. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville.
