Shaffer, 75, Boswell RD 1, died Aug. 22, 1974 at Memorial Hospital Johnstown. Born July 7, 1899, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, a son of John W. and Lizzie Saylor Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents, sister Mary, and brothers Lloyd and Lester. Survived by widow, the former Emma Speicher, a niece Mrs. Sandra McLarney; her children, Debi, Robin and Rick who reside with the Shaffers. A brother Clarence Boswell RD 1, and two sisters, Ethel, wife of John McNutt, Boswell RD 1, and Helen, wife of Joseph McTonic, Jerome; also a large number of nieces and nephews. Was a retired school teacher having taught 47 years in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County; was elementary principal in Jerome for many years retiring in 1964. Member of Thomas Mennonite Church. Friends were received from 7-9 p.m. Friday and will be received from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and until noon Sunday at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell. The body will be removed to Thomas Mennonite Church for viewing 1 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Speigle. Interment, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.
