  SHAFFER
  
    Dewey A. "Jock" Shaffer, 61, of Meyersdale RD 4, died April 14,
  1997, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born March 20, 1936, in
  Larimer Township.  A son of Hulda (Wilt) Shaffer, Meyersdale RD 4, and
  the late Walter A. Shaffer.  Also preceded in death by a daughter,
  Karen Sue; a brother, Wilbur "Poss" Shaffer, and a sister, Ruth
  Crosby.  Survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Donna Kay
  Bittner, and four children: Dewey A. Shaffer, Donna Jean Shaffer, and
  Sandra K., wife of Craig Allen Phillips, all of Meyersdale, and Janet
  M., wife of Dean Jay Snyder, Berlin; four grandchildren: Amber Kay
  and Jenna Marie Snyder, Christina Marie and Ashley Lynn Phillips.  A
  brother of James R. "Jim", George "Buck", Hulda M. "Skip" Sturtz,
  Clara "Snook" Lottig and Carlen S. Miller, all of Meyersdale RD 4;
  Charles E., Shaft, Md.; Orval L. "Jake" Meyersdale RD 3; and Connie
  J. VanGlider, Berlin RD 1.  Employed by Action Mining of Meyersdale
  as a dozer operator.  His hobbies included hunting and fishing. 
  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Price
  Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where the service will be conducted at 11
  a.m. Friday, with Pastor Jay Shaffer officiating.  Interment, Union
  Cemetery, Meyersdale.
