  SHAFFER
  
    Ella A. Shaffer, 99, Valley Pike Manor, formerly of Somerset Towers
  and Cannon Street, died Jan. 12, 1997, at Good Samaritan Nursing Care
  Center, Johnstown.  Born Oct. 15, 1897, in Meyersdale.  A daughter of
  the late William and Laura (Burnside) Rowe.  Preceded in death by
  parents; husband, Custer E. Shaffer; daughter, Betty Hagins; a number
  of brothers and sisters and great-great-grandson, Stephen Michael
  Onstead.  Survived by granddaughters: Pamela Jann Hagins, Johnstown;
  Judith Ann Hagins, married to Lester Oliver of Sacramento, Calif.;
  great-grandchildren: Fritz, married to Stephen Onstead, Somerset;
  John Krzysko, Johnstown; Pamela, married to James Baumgardner,
  Johnstown; and five great-great-grandchildren.  Member of Christ
  United Methodist Church.  Longtime member of the Eastern Star.  She
  had been employed at Alwine Dairy for many years.  Friends will be
  received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the John Henderson Co.
  Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, where services will be
  held at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Hugh McKnight officiating. 
  Interment, Berkley Hills Cemetery.
