   Elwood Leroy Shaffer, 81, Somerset, died Aug. 22, 2008, Somerset. Born April 14, 1927,
  in Paint Township, the son of Clarence William and Maggie Viola (Weighley) Shaffer.
  Preceded in death by parents; brothers, William and Lewis Shaffer; and sister, Catherine
  C. Shaffer. Survived by his wife, the former Jean Tipton Fritz, whom he was married 59
  years; children, Mrs. Danny (Marilyn) Hause, Martinville, Ind.; David Shaffer, married
  to the former Kathy Gibbons, Jennerstown; grandchildren, Jon, Jason and Joshua Hause,
  Tiffany Boone and Courtney Shaffer; and six great-grandchildren; sister and brother,
  Mrs. Mahlon (Eleanor) Groff, Seven Valley; Clarence W. Shaffer, Dallastown; 
  Sisters-in-law, Ada Shaffer, Ohio and Naomi Shaffer, Friedens. A 1947 graduate of
  Somerset High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Worked until his
  retirement as a truck driver for Interstate Dress Carriers. Also a member of the
  Brothersvalley Church of the Brethren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted 1
  p.m. Monday. The Rev. Timothy E. Resh officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial
