Born April 14, 1927, in Paint Township, the son of Clarence William and Maggie Viola (Weighley) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, William and Lewis Shaffer; and sister, Catherine C. Shaffer. Survived by his wife, the former Jean Tipton Fritz, whom he was married 59 years; children, Mrs. Danny (Marilyn) Hause, Martinville, Ind.; David Shaffer, married to the former Kathy Gibbons, Jennerstown; grandchildren, Jon, Jason and Joshua Hause, Tiffany Boone and Courtney Shaffer; and six great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Mrs. Mahlon (Eleanor) Groff, Seven Valley; Clarence W. Shaffer, Dallastown; Sisters-in-law, Ada Shaffer, Ohio and Naomi Shaffer, Friedens. A 1947 graduate of Somerset High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Worked until his retirement as a truck driver for Interstate Dress Carriers. Also a member of the Brothersvalley Church of the Brethren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Timothy E. Resh officiating.
