Shaffer, 83, of Markleton RD 1, died Nov. 29, 1982, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Jan. 4, 1899, in Markleton, a daughter of Harvey and Ellen (Sanner) Faidley. Survived by two sons, Merle Vough, Markleton RD 1; and Ray Donald Shaffer, Markleton RD 1; by these foster children: Gary Hughes, of Boston, Mass.; James Gunder, El Paso, Texas; Pauline Marvin, Burlington, Vt.; Debbie Gunder of Markleton RD 1; and Marvin Sanner of Garrett; three sisters: Mrs. Emma L. Snyder, Ebensburg; Mrs. Viola Johnson, Somerset; and Mrs. Hazel Fern Head, Somerset; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Harvey S. Shaffer, July 26, 1981. Also by three sisters and one brother. Member of the Middlecreek Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) where services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh officiating.
