  SHAFFER, Frederick Ross  02/26/07   Daily American
  
   Frederick Ross Shaffer, 76, Somerset, died Feb. 24 2007. Born June 16, 1930, in
  Cumberland, Md., the son of Dr. Frederick Biesecker and Cynthia Ann (Ross) Shaffer.
  Preceded in death by parents and a son, Mark Alan Shaffer. Survived by his wife, the
  former Nancy Jean Hittle, to whom he was married for 48 years; children, Mary Laatsch and
  husband, Ed, Manassas, Va., Dick Shaffer and wife, Linda, Hollywood, Md., Fred S. Shaffer
  and wife, Jennifer, Manhattan Beach, Calif., and daughter-in-law, Lori Shaffer, Fairport,
  N.Y.; grandchildren, Allie and Jeff Shaffer, Jamie and Tom Laatsch, Matt and Angie
  Shaffer, Jack and Blake Shaffer. A 1948 graduate of Somerset High School and also of
  Franklin and Marshall College and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a pharmacist and
  owner of Findley's Pharmacy. Lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served
  on the church council and the finance committee and taught Sunday school. U.S. Army
  veteran. A member of the Rotary Club in Somerset where he was a past president and U.S.
  Bank board of directors. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, at
  Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. The Rev. Linda J. McElroy officiating. Interment,
  Somerset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Somerset County
  Rails to Trails Association, P.O. Box 413, Somerset, PA 15501.
