  SHAFFER
  
  Harold E. Shaffer "Bud" 74, of Friedens RD 1, died Aug. 19, 1989 at
  home.  Born Dec. 14, 1914 in Somerset Township.  Son of Scott and
  Edith (Shaffer) Shaffer.  Preceded in death by parents, sisters
  Evelyn Lambert and Mildred.  Survived by his wife of 49 years, the
  former Luella Pile.  These children:  D. Scott, of Meyersdale; Mrs.
  George Bonnie Baer of Somerset RD 2 and Ross, married to the former
  Ruth Hersch, of Friedens RD 1.  Six grandchildren, four
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Helen Walker, Mrs. M. M. Ruth Hamer
  and Eileen Knupp all of Somerset and Richard of Bowie Md.  Retired
  from and a member of I.U.O.E. Local 66.  Family received friends from
  2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home Stoystown where
  service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.  Rev. James R. Ling. 
  Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions
  maybe made to the American Cancer Society or the Somerset Hospital
  "In Touch" Hospice Program.
