  SHAFFER
  
  Harry James Shaffer, 74, of Friedens RD 1, died Aug. 22, 1989, at
  Mercy Hospital, Johnstown.  Born Dec. 8, 1914, in Stoystown, son of
  Harry and Mary (Maxwell) Shaffer.  Preceded in death by parents and
  sisters Violet Deist, Leona Felesky and Marie.  Survived by his wife
  of 52 years, the former Marie A. Emert Hanks; these children:  Mrs.
  Neil (VerNae) Rayman of Friedens; Mrs. John (Gloria) Wyatt of Fort
  Myers, Fla.; Mrs. David (Melea) Pruskauer, Cape Corral, Fla; and five
  grandchildren.  Brother of Ida Custer, Hollsopple; Blanche Emert of
  Alhambra, Calif.; Myrtle Smith of Price, Utah; Donald of Johnstown;
  Anna Eash of Jerome; Jennie Mutz of Pontiac, Mich.; Agnus of Los
  Angeles, Calif.; and Frank of Boswell.  Retired coal miner and member
  of Friedens Lutheran Church and United Mine Workers of America. 
  Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner
  Funeral Home, Stoystown.  Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11
  a.m. Friday at Friedens Lutheran Church with the Rev. James R. Ling
  officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
